Resource audit

These are the brief initial planning ideas I have for my music video. The resource audit contains the potential genre, settings, actors and costume that could be used. Creating this resource audit has helped me a lot because it has given me an idea as to what ideas I have for my music video and how I can use them.

Contact with the artist's manager

Here, I have taken a screen shot of my email to the manager of Ellie Goulding asking for his permission to use her song.

Original lyrics

These are the original lyrics to the song I am using for my music video; - "Guns and Horses" by Ellie Goulding. I googled the lyrics, copied and pasted them onto a new Microsoft Word document, uploaded them to a website called "Issuu" and embedded them onto here.

My ideas for my music video using the 5 conventions using the green screen

Here, I was video'd presenting my ideas for my music video using the 5 conventions in front of a green screen. I elaborated on these, and then I edited the video on Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. This was the first time I had used a green screen so I had a lot of fun playing around with it and editing it using a tutorial Mr Daley presented us, even if the result isn't absolutely great. I added images in the background that linked in with what I had to say. Then, I exported this and uploaded it onto YouTube. Then I uploaded it onto here. I found creating this video has benefited me a lot because before, I had no clue how to use a green screen.

Lyric analysis

This is a presentation I created on Power Point where I analysed the lyrics of the song I am doing my music video to, "Guns and Horses" by Ellie Goulding. This is actually a re-do of my previous lyric analysis, as I felt that the last one I created was not informative enough and wasn't as well presented.
On this document I gave a rough idea of the impression I got off of the lyrics, what they portray and the effect they may have on the audience. I enjoyed completing this task because I found it interesting, insightful. I also felt that I learned a lot from it, developing a meaning behind the song and it gave me a clearer idea on what sort of shots I will be using in my music video and how I will be making it. I now feel a lot more organised.

Project log 18/7/13

Today we had a double lesson dedicated to coursework. This meant that I could catch up on a lot of research and planning tasks I have missed out on. I completed the "history of music videos" task on prezi and uploaded it to my blog. I also carried out my own independant research and embedded an interactive history timeline of music videos to my blog too, as I found this interesting. On the exam side of things, I then continued working on my green screen project, finished it, exported it, uploaded it to YouTube and then uploaded it to my blog. I feel satisfied that I have finally learned how to use the green screen and can show this on my blog.

History of music videos

This is a prezi presentation I have created explaining the history of music videos. This includes what music videos are, how they have developed, modern music videos, timelines of the 20th century music videos etc, plus examples.

This is an extra music video timeline I have found:

Music video pitch

This is the pitch for my music video to "Guns and Horses" by Ellie Goulding. I created this pitch on powerpoint, and it includes all the details of my choice, why I chose it, the concept of the song, what music videos I want mine to be like, why I chose the artist I did, why I chose my actor/s, the camera shots I will use and why and the props and costumes I will be using. Creating this powerpoint helped me very much because it means I feel a lot more organised about where I am with my music video and what I will be doing with it.

Project log 15/7/13

Today as our lesson was exam based I had no time to complete any coursework, however I completed an A3 sheet split into the different conventions such as genre, representation etc and related them to my music video. Then I presented them to the camera as I was filmed in front of a green screen. Then I opened this video on Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and played around with the green screen, following a tutorial on Mr Daley's media website, adding pictures and videos to the green screen so that my presentation looked a lot better. This lesson was very beneficial for me because it allowed me to be able to work a green screen and learn how to use it, so that I can use it in the future. I now have experienced better presentation techniques.

Project log 4/7/13

Today I have a double lesson so I plan on finishing as many planning tasks as possible. Today I finished my mood board, therefore I can upload this task to my blog and tick it off as "finished" on my A2 task check list. After this, I worked on my pitch making sure that I have added every idea to it that I have and made sure that it is fully developed and my ideas are fully explained, ready to present to the class next week.

Project log 3/7/13

Today I came in early before my lesson and worked on my pitch for my music video, ready to present in class tomorrow. Once I have presented this to the class I will upload it to my blog so that I have everything the examiner needs to see covered. I plan on continuing on my research tasks tonight so that I have two covered by the end of this week.

Because today I don't have a lesson dedicated to coursework I will carry out my independant study by myself at home. I plan to begin my first research task at home and hopefully have it finished by next lesson so that I am far ahead and organised, knowing exactly what I want to produce by the end of my study.

Project log 15/6/13

Today I plan on organising my blog and making its appearance a lot more appealing visually. This includes me creating a background which will link to all of the things we will be doing in A2 Media this year. Then, I plan on beginning the research evidence for my music video tonight which will go onto next week. I will make sure all of my coursework is completed to its best possible standard so that I can achieve an excellent grade.
