Advertisement and Promotion
These posts focus on promotion and advertisement, and they highlight just a few ways in which I could advertise my album advert. This is through a billboard, a bus stop poster and an article. This is because I believe these are areas in which my target audience will notice my posters and therefore will be most effective/successful. For example, the bus stop suits my demographics being BC1 which consists of junior managers etc who are more likely to use public transport, as they may not be capable financilly, of running their own car.
I found the three advertisement images on google, opened them in Photoshop seperately, and imported either a landscape or portrait version of my album advert, in which I would then incorporate the image into the photo by cropping it or resizing it. I did this in order to make it look as realistic as possible, and give a professional view on what it would look like.
Billboard
This first image represents what my advert would look like blown up on a billboard. Personally, I believe that size is an extremely important factor when it comes to making a product appealing to the audience and engaging them. Even if the artist or pop genre does not interest the passer-by or driver that happens to see this billboard promotion, it will still catch their eye due to the size of it, and just with that fact, we can see how crucial a billboard really is. Therefore, this allows the identity of the artist to develop and expand due to the improvements in recognition. I believe that making the artist's appearance and recognition as large as possible, is the main selling point when advertising. This is because the intended target audience are then likely to identify with the artist. Therefore, using the billboard as a method of advertisement can be linked to Andrew Goodwin's theory with personal identity, as an individual or group may primarily purchase the album due to having a relationship or relation with/to the artist. Furthermore, I believe the billboard is a great way of advertising because my target audience would see it; - whether they are 20 and driving, or 16 and on a bus or walking by.
Bus stop advert
This second photo portrays a rough idea of what my advert would look like on a bus stop advertisement area. Similarly to the billboard, I believe that having an advert in an area like a bus stop is an extremely effective and successful way of promoting my album advert, and this is because is would attract a large target market from a diverse environment. Whether it be passers-by, members of the public transportation or people in their cars, a wide and varied target market from a range of cultures and ethnic backgrounds would see it. This leads to the idea that my advert could potentially appeal to a variety of cultures. Similarly, the majority of bus stop adverts are at eye level, so the individual who sees the advertisement have more of an ability to spend a lot of time viewing the information stated properly, allowing them to even take notes on it if they wanted to.
Article/magazine advertisement
For this advertisement technique, I actually wanted to find an original article about Ellie Goulding, so that it represented my actual artist more. It took a while for me to edit my advert onto the image as it had a lot of different features to the original image that I could not just place my advert over, so I had to cover up parts by placing a white-filled shape. However, I am pleased with the result as I believe it is fairly realistic. I understand that for space, the producers of the magazine may have wanted to leave the image to the left however if I was creating an article, I would ensure that the main image takes up the whole page as it would catch the reader's eye more and keep them engaged, because their eyes are constantly referring back to the image even whilst reading the article - this is to do with Goodwin's 'star image', because essentially, Georgina/Ellie is the main focus of the product. Because essentially, the reader's interest is now being met, this would refer to the purpose and aim of the advert because it would begin to promote the album in more personal levels - the reader would want to 'get to know' the artist on a deeper level and know who they are through Twitter, Facebook, and discover release dates etc.. Furthermore, as the advert would be placed in a music magazine it would attract a larger target market, due to the type of genre being Pop, as this is such a huge genre. We would also be able to be confident in that our audience would be interested in what we have to say, because essentially the readers of the music magazines are interested in music, and will have more time for issues like this, as they have spent their income on it.

Actor release form
Here are two actor release forms my two actors have filled out: Georgina, my protagonist actress, and Matthew, my male actor. I wasn't obliged to do this, however I felt that making my actors complete an actor release form would allow the audience to see that my actors actually wanted to take part within my music video. This adds more of a personal touch to my video as a whole, because knowing that the actors agreed to take part in and enjoyed taking part in my music video, would be a very appealing feature for the audience, and it adds personal identity.

Album poster draft
This is the draft of my album cover. As you can see,
there is a bold album title called “LIGHTS”, and underneath it states “THE NEW
ALBUM BY”, then underneath “Ellie Goulding”. Then underneath this it states “featuring the hit
single ‘Guns and Horses’”.
Underneath this writing I plan to use an image of my
protagonist actress holding one side of her dress delicately as she looks up
around her wanderingly. She is in the
middle of a woods, preferably on a path seperated by trees dangling over her.
Underneath this image there will be a quote saying
“breath-taking”, and underneath “AVAILABLE NOW ON..” etc.
I plan to take the photos for my album poster tomorrow.
Production process of my digipak SO FAR
This is the process I have reported on the production of my digipak so far. I have created this on a Powerpoint document, and decided to add the date on a new slide of each time I make changes to the digipak so that the examiner can properly monitor my progress and see how far I have gotten. It is almost like a mini diary, where I explain the changes I make along the way and why I have made them. I have also added the initial draft of my digipak so my intentions are clear.
Along the way I have added a lot to this document as of course, I have been making changes to my digipak and a lot of progress consistently, so I have made sure that this is up to date.
Genre applied to my music video "Guns and Horses" by Ellie Goulding
This is a Powerpoint I have created, explaining all of the pop genre aspects that are included in my music video, how they are conventional and how they effect the audience and change the way my music video would be viewed. I also describe how my music video is similar and dissimilar to other pop music videos.
Digipak draft
This is the draft I created of my Digipak. It includes the front cover, back cover, lyrics, disk cover and more. I found it fairly easy to create this draft as I used inspiration off of other previous digipaks which helped me a lot. I now feel a lot more organised with what pictures I will be taking for my digipak and what ideas I can incorporate into these.

Presentation on the narrative of my music video
Narrative of My Music Video
This essay explains the narrative and structure of my music video and the possible reasons why certain things were placed where they were. In this power point I speak about the intention behind each narrative aspect of my music video and what effect they have. I have also given an example next to each point I make, of an image of how I have actually practiced each aspect. Overall, creating this powerpoint actually really helped me because it confirmed to me why I structured my music video the way that I did and what effect its narrative features would have on the audience.

Structure ideas for my music video
This is a document I have created on the brief ideas I have developed in planning for my filming my music video tomorrow. I have already filmed the narrative shots I need, and now I am going to film the performance shots, so I wanted to create a brief plan to structure what parts of footage I need and what my actress should be doing in them. Doing this has made me feel a lot more organised.

Planning for my Digipak & album advert: image inspiration
I began Googling images for what I want my Digipak front cover and album advert pictures to look like, to give me some inspiration for how to construct my own. I put these onto a Powerpoint and explained why I want to use some of them. I thought this was a good idea as it also shows the examiner the progress with thought I am making, and some construction evidence.

Structure & shot ideas for music video
This is a shot idea document I have created on Microsoft Word. It is not an official descriptive shot list or storyboard, however since completely changing the concept ideas for my music video I gathered I should start creating some brief draft ideas for the structure of my music video and the shots that are going to be in it. Of course I will create an official shot list soon once I am 100% sure on what shots I am using at what times. However, so getting down these brief shot ideas has really helped me progress because I now feel a lot more organised and head-clear in what I am doing in my music video and how it will be structured.

Risk assessment
Above is a risk assessment I have completed on Microsoft Word, listing the risk types there could be with the production of my music video, the details of the risks, ways to minimize the risks and who is responsible for them. Completing this task has opened my eyes as to the ways my music video could go wrong or how the production of it could be altered or slowed down, and the ways in which people could get injured. So, completing it has been beneficial because now I have realised the ways in which I can prevent this from happening so that everyone is safe and things can run smoothly.

Pictures of location
This is a video I created on Windows Movie Maker at home with the pictures I have taken of the locations used in my music video. I added a caption before each location, introducing the location and explaining how I used them each. I also added the "Guns & Horses" soundtrack to the video by Ellie Goulding, as this is the song I am using for my music video. I plan to add on this within time as of course I am still filming my music video so there will be more locations to come.
Raw footage of location (KEEP ADDING TO THIS)
These are the raw pieces of video footage I have taken of each location.
Location 1: Ruislip Woods
I took this footage in one of my locations which was Ruislip Woods. This was were the majority of the performance footage was taken. There were quite a few pieces of footage taken of here so I put the videos together on Windows Movie Maker and uploaded the full video to YouTube.
Location 2: Eastcode fields
This footage was taken in Eastcote fields where I filmed my second actress, Jessica, performing her gymnastics. There were quite a few pieces of footage taken of here so I put the videos together on Windows Movie Maker and uploaded the full video to YouTube.
Location 3: Elmbridge Close (down Georgina's road)
I used this location to film the couple meeting for the first time and about to leave to go on their first date.

Location 4: Georgina's kitchen
I used this location in my music video for the shots where the couple are cooking together and play fighting, representing the "comfortable/inlove" stage of their relationship.
Location 5: Georgina's hallway
I used this location to film Georgina about to leave to go and meet Matt to go on their first date.

Location 6: Georgina's room
This is the location I used for a lot of my music video, for example the distrust stage and the beginning stage where Georgina is getting dressed to go on her first date with Matt.

Location 7: The Fairway restaurant
I filmed the couple's first date at this restaurant, as fortunately Matt works there and was able to hire out the bar upstairs for us to use for filming.

Testing/editing some of the first shots for my music video, simply using Windows Movie Maker
I was at home and dedcided to simply use Windows Movie Maker to test and see what some of my first shots will look like in my music video with the soundtrack. I am fully aware that I will not be using Windows Movie Maker to create my final music video - I will be using Adobe Premiere Pro - but I just simply wanted to see what some of it would look like. It actually worked out quite well, however I know that some shots are quite shaky, the cropping and timing could be better, and I could improve the colour and quality of some as they do not all match and some are quite blurry. However of course this was just a test and I will be improving on all these aspects when I have filmed everything and finally begin to start editing them all on Adobe Premiere Pro.
Adding effects to some of my shots for my music video
I wanted to test what the slow motion effect and black and white effect would look like on some of the artistic shots I created of my actress Jessica doing her gymnastics, and what the outcome would be, for example whether it would look professional or not. So, knowing that of course I would not be editing my final music video on Windows Movie Maker, I was at home and decided to use simply Windows Movie Maker to test some effects on some of these shots, just to make some progress. I have uploaded the contents to YouTube and embedded it here, just to show what it looks like. Overall I am quite impressed with the results as I believe the effects make the shots look quite artistic, and now I know what some of them will look like in my final music video.

Filming schedule
This is a schedule I have created on Powerpoint, showing what dates and times I plan on filming. For each filming day, I have also stated the location of the filming and who I will be filming with. This task was actually really good help towards my music video as it helped me plan out exactly when I am filming so that I feel a lot more organised.
